American Diabetes Month

Raise Awareness this November

It is important for all of us to do our part in raising awareness about diabetes and promoting a healthy and balanced life. One in 11 Americans has diabetes, making it a chronic health condition that affects around 30 million people in the United States.

According to research by the American Diabetes Association (ADA), the price tag for diabetes in the U.S. is around $327 billion in direct medical and reduced productivity costs.

Here are some typical symptoms of diabetes:

  • Urinating often
  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Feeling very hungry even though you are eating
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
  • Weight loss – even though you are eating more (type 1)
  • Tingling, pain or numbness in the hands/feet (type 2)
